Product Architecture

The DeltaCabinet service is designed to be a complete solution. Using the service makes very limited demands on the client’s IT infrastructure and staff. It is delivered completely ready for use over the web.

Architecture Overview
DeltaCabinet includes secure application hosting, enterprise class software, data storage and a configurable user interface. It is built from Stellent's SmartCabinet technology that has been used for web-based hosted document management services to the real estate industry for over 3 years.

User Interface
The user interface is built around the familiar ‘file cabinet’ metaphor complete with drawers, folders and documents. The interface provides a personalized view for each user. The interface has been designed for the busy business user. A context sensitive help system is available however most users will be able to use the system with little or no training.

Business Process Logic
DeltaCabinet is custom configured for each client according to the client’s business rules. The information architecture, workflow logic and security rules are implemented during setup for each client. The system then automatically implements these business rules during use creating an environment that is familiar and easy to use.

Document Repository
Documents are stored in secure and redundant network storage that is backed up daily. An exact copy of all uploaded files with the original file name is always maintained. All revisions of the original are maintained unless explicitly deleted. Only the latest revision of each file is presented during normal use.

Stellent Content Server
The DeltaCabinet application runs on the Stellent Content Server. The Stellent Content Server is a full featured document and content management system. It is used by several fortune Fortune 500 companies as their primary enterprise wide document and content management system.

The Stellent Content Server is a Java based application that is architected for a web based thin client environment. The Stellent foundation allows DeltaCabinet to be ready for web based integration with remote applications using web services, XML and SOAP protocols.

Application Hosting
The DeltaCabinet service is hosted from a tier 1 data center run by SaskTel of Saskatchewan, Canada. The SaskTel data center is a recipient of the prestigious HP Signature Certification. This certification is only given out to data centers with world class hardware environment and IT management processes.

SaskTel provides a fully managed hosting environment with the infrastructure and operating software automatically kept updated and secure. All files are automatically checked for viruses. The DeltaCabinet service runs off a multi-tiered hardware environment with hardware redundancy built at each level. The system runs on Microsoft's operating system, database and web server. The environment is fully compatible with SSL based security. All data is backed up daily and archived for a year.

Client User Environment
DeltaCabinet works with most industry standard computers with web browsing software and internet access. The e-mail notification component requires industry standard e-mail client software.

Document scanning is supported from most industry standard scanners. All scanned documents go through an optical character recognition (OCR) software and are converted to searchable text if possible. The application also fully supports digital senders for automated scanned document upload.

Files created by any software application can be used with DeltaCabinet. DeltaCabinet manages all file types, human readable files or machine readable files. All industry standard documents types* are converted to Adobe’s PDF format and are indexed for full text search. All other documents, regardless of type, are searchable by attributes assigned in the system.
